THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED AN
EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH MONDAY EVENING.

A WARM FRONT IS FORECAST TO LIFT NORTH OF THE AREA EARLY ON
SUNDAY, WHICH WILL INCREASE A WARM AND MOIST WEST TO SOUTHWEST
FLOW ACROSS THE AREA. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO RISE INTO THE
LOWER AND MID 90S ON SUNDAY AND MID 90S ON MONDAY, AND WITH
RELATIVELY HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS, HEAT INDICES WILL RISE AS WELL
AND APPROACH DANGEROUS LEVELS. MONDAY LOOKS TO BE THE MOST
OPPRESSIVE OF THE TWO DAYS. MONDAY MORNING MINIMUM TEMPERATURES
MAY NOT DROP INTO THE 70S IN THE MOST URBANIZED LOCATIONS.

A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO PASS THROUGH THE AREA ON TUESDAY
WHICH SHOULD BRING COOLER AND DRIER CONDITIONS FOR THE MIDDLE TO
LATTER PART OF THE WEEK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HOT
TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND
HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN
WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY
IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP
ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
