COMMUNITY ALERT – BURGLARS ARRESTED BY SAN CARLOS POLICE TIED TO SAN MATEO BURGLARIES

June 24th, 2010 – 2:44 am – San Carlos
An SMPD K9 Officer responded to assist San Carlos Police in the apprehension of burglary suspects, and noted a similarity to recent burglaries in San Mateo. SMPD Detectives responded and with the assistance of San Carlos Police were able to link the Burglary Suspects to three recent window-smash / cash register-theft burglaries of San Mateo businesses (100 block of South Blvd, 4000 Block of S. El Camino Real, and Unit Block of 42nd Ave.) and suspect them in additional similar burglaries in this City. This is an outstanding example of patrol officers being alert to crimes on their beat and collaboration between Peninsula agencies as well as between patrol and detectives. This is excellent work done by your neighborhood patrol officers.
The San Carlos Police Press Release is attached below…

Commercial Burglars Arrested
San Carlos, CA, June 24, 2010: On 06/24/10 at approximately 0244 hours, while on routine patrol, a San Carlos Police Officer noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in front of Country Club Cleaners. When the Officer stopped to investigate the vehicle, two male subjects fled from the area on foot, ignoring police commands to stop. The Police Officer pursued the two subjects on foot until they jumped over fences of nearby residences; a perimeter was quickly set up, with the assistance of officers from the California Highway Patrol, Redwood City Police Department, San Mateo Police Department, and Belmont Police Department. After a police K9 search of the area, both suspects were located hiding in backyards of residences in the 900 block of Holly Street.
