Maumee will host their annual Independence Day fireworks display on Saturday, July 3, rain date is July 4th

Maumee and Perrysburg will host their annual Independence Day fireworks display on Saturday, July 3, beginning at approximately 10:00 p.m. The annual Community Pre-Fireworks Picnic will be held in the 100 block of East Wayne Street from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This year’s pyrotechnic display will be launched from the center of the Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. the Maumee-Perrysburg Bridge). This will necessitate the closing of the Bridge from 8:00 p.m. to approximately 11:30 p.m. Vehicular traffic on Conant Street from U.S.24 to the bridge will be prohibited coinciding with the bridge closing. No pedestrian traffic will be allowed on the bridge during this closure. Traffic will be routed either eastbound or westbound on U.S.24 at Conant Street.

The alternative route across the Maumee River via the I-475 Bridge will have the added challenge of only being accessible from the eastbound lanes of U.S. 24 because of a ramp closure from westbound U.S.24 to Perrysburg via I-475. Additionally, traffic on I-475 from Perrysburg wishing to travel westbound on U.S. 24 will have to exit onto eastbound U.S. 24 and reverse direction after turning onto Monclova Road or West Wayne Street. There is prohibited U-Turn at eastbound U.S. 24 and Monclova Road.

After 8:00 P.M. fireworks spectators in uptown Maumee will be allowed on Conant Street between the Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge and Wayne Street to view this aerial display. No one will be allowed to sit in the street outside of this designated area. A safety route for emergency vehicles only will be established in the southbound (Saint Joseph Church side) curb lane of Conant Street from Wayne Street to the Bridge. Pedestrians will not be allowed within this safety route.

The rain date for this event will be Sunday, July 4.
