On June 4, 2010 at 8:20 PM a female victim (60 yrs, transient) was found by witnesses shortly after an apparent attack near the 7-11 store at Mission and Niles Blvds. The victim suffered severe (but not life threatening) head injuries. A male suspect was seen running away west-bound Niles Blvd from Mission. An extensive perimeter was established, and a search conducted, however the suspect was not located. The weapon in the attack was the suspect’s skateboard.

On June 16, 2010, at about 8:15 PM, Sgt. Tom Severance of the Street Crimes Unit spotted a male (Moore) that matched the suspect description riding a skateboard near the intersection of Civic Center Dr and Walnut Ave. Moore was stopped, questioned, and admitted to the June 4th assault. A subsequent search warrant was served at Moore’s home were several items of evidence were recovered, including the clothes he was wearing during the attack. The skateboard he was riding when arrested is believed to be the one used to assault the victim.

Moore has been charged with attempted murder, and will be arraigned tomorrow (June 17).
