Police Charge Two Juveniles with Armed Robbery Attempt

Jackson Police have charged a 17-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy with an armed robbery attempt outside a Jackson business. On May 26 around 9:00 p.m. Jackson Police Officers were patrolling and heard a gunshot. While investigating the source of the shot they heard someone calling for help. They found an employee of Pizza Plus at 935 North Highland Avenue. The employee told Officers that he was closing for the night and placing merchandise in his vehicle when he was approached by two subjects. One was armed with a handgun. They told the employee not to move. The employee ran towards the business and heard a single gunshot as he was running. He was not injured. The two subjects were able to get away.

Jackson Police developed a suspect and contacted the Carroll County Sheriff's Department who arrested the17-year-old yesterday in Bruceton. Investigation revealed that he had stolen a handgun from his mother, which was the same one used in the robbery. He faces charges of Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Theft. He is anticipated to go before the Madison County Juvenile Court Judge today for a detention hearing.

The second subject is a 14-year-old male who is currently in the custody of the Department of Children's Services. He has pending charges in Madison County for a June 2 shooting in the 2000 block of Steam Mill Ferry Road. He will be brought before the Juvenile Court Judge for a detention hearing as soon as possible. He will face a charge of Attempted Aggravated Robbery.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department assisted Jackson Police in this investigation.
