Sheriff McGuire Introduces BergenTip Program to Palisades Park Business Owners

PALISADES PARK, N.J. – On Thursday, Bergen County Sheriff Leo P. McGuire and officers from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) took a walking tour of Palisades Park to meet with local business owners and hand out information about the BCSO's new BergenTip program.

“No police force is capable of being everywhere at once,” Sheriff McGuire said. “By offering citizens the ability to anonymously submit tips to law enforcement, our residents and local business owners can help keep Bergen County safe by acting as our eyes and ears in the community.”

The BergenTip Line Program, launched in March, is Bergen County’s first text-based way to safely and anonymously communicate crime tips and information to law enforcement officials. To forward information to the BCSO using a mobile device, an individual can send the word ‘BergenTip’ and their message to “CRIMES” – or 274637. On the web, a person with relevant information can go to and click near the top of the page to submit an anonymous tip.

In the months ahead, the Sheriff will be visiting other towns in Bergen County to talk to local business owners about the BCSO's new initiative.
