Alligator seen near the swimming area of Hope Mills Lake 
The Hope Mills Police Department responded to the swimming area of Hope Mills Lake around 9:30a.m. today in reference to an Alligator in the swimming area.
Upon arriving in the area, Officers did in fact observe an alligator that was approximately 6 ft. in length.
It is asked that residents and visitors do not feed the alligator, nor taunt it should it approach the shoreline. Furthermore, residents around the Hope Mills Lake should keep their pets under observation when outside, or if the pets are outdoor pets, keep them in a secure area. If any residents come in contact with the alligator on their property, leave the immediate area of the alligator and contact the Hope Mills Police Department immediately at 425-4103. Please do not attempt to capture, or harm the alligator if sighted.
No swimming is allowed in Hope Mills Lake until further notice.
