SOME CRIME PREVENTION NOTES!

Summer is coming: please lock up your homes and cars. Summer is fun, but it can also bring more criminal incidents. The reasons for that are: vacations, kids, unlocked and open windows, and hot weather. More burglaries are committed by young people between the ages of twelve and twenty-four years old than any other sector of the population.

Please keep the interior of your cars clear. Even if your vehicle is locked, if a criminal sees property in your car, they will smash a window or pry a door to get to it. Don’t forget GPS systems and stereos are also popular. Please do not leave your purses and wallets inside your vehicle unattended.

Checking: This is when people walk along the vehicles, trying the car doors. If the door is open, they invite themselves in to your property. We call these crimes of opportunity.

Garage Doors: Please close and lock your garage doors. This is a great way for a criminal to make his way into your car and home.

Some Ways for a criminal to break into your home: sliders, garages, any doors including doggie doors, open windows even with screens, patios, balconies, upstairs doors and windows.
