ABOUT THE CITY OF ROCKFORD WATER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT:
The Rockford Water System Improvement Project is reaching key milestones during the second quarter of 2010 with the startup and dedication of the City’s 4th filtration plant. This facility is the first filtration plant that will remove radium from the drinking water. The City has signed contracts for approximately $73.9 million worth of studies, designs, and construction through the end of April 2010. This total represents approximately 98.5% of the project budget of $75 million. Budget actually spent through April 2010 totals approximately $55.2 million, or about 74% of the total budget. Progress reports developed for the individual projects completed or currently active indicate that the overall project is about 75% complete.
