Sheriff McGuire to Announce Major New Public Safety Initiative for Residents

Bergen County to Become First County in Nation to Participate in Innovative AMBER Ready Program

In honor of National Missing Children’s Day on Tuesday, May 25, Bergen County Sheriff Leo P. McGuire will hold a press conference to announce a major new public safety initiative aimed at protecting residents and their loved ones.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office will become the first county agency in the nation to offer the AMBER Ready Police Emergency Notification System and 24-hour Emergency Response Network to all residents at no cost. Once enrolled in the free program, a resident can create picture profiles of family members that are downloaded to his or her cell phone and email. In the event a family member goes missing, the information can be transmitted immediately to the Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement authorities to assist in search efforts.
