... High Surf Advisory Remains In Effect Until 6 AM EDT Sunday... ... High Risk For Rip Currents Today...

High Surf Advisory Remains In Effect Until 6 AM EDT Sunday.

Long Period Swell Produced By Hurricane Bill Will Impact Area Beaches Today And Tonight. Breakers Are Expected To Build To 5 To 6 Feet By Late This Morning And Continue Through The Early Morning Hours Sunday. Wave Heights Will Quickly Decrease Late Tonight And Sunday Morning.

The Swell Will Also Contribute To A High Risk Of Rip Currents On All Beaches Today. Conditions Will Be Favorable For Frequent... Strong And Life-Threatening Rip Currents.

The Pounding Surf Could Result In Minor Beach Erosion... Especially Around The Times Of The Morning And Evening High Tides.

No One Should Enter The Surf Due To The Potential For Life Threatening Rip Currents. Rip Currents Are Powerful Channels Of Water Flowing Quickly Away From Shore... Which Occur Most Often At Low Spots Or Breaks In The Sandbar And In The Vicinity Of Structures Such As Groins... Jetties And Piers. Heed The Advice Of Lifeguards And The Beach Patrol. Pay Attention To Flags And Posted Signs.

A High Surf Advisory Means That High Surf Will Affect Beaches In The Advisory Area... Producing Dangerous Rip Currents And Localized Beach Erosion.
