Simpson County EM is testing Nixle to distribute important local information to agencies and residents.

Simpson County Emergency Management is now testing Nixle to distribute important local information to agencies and residents via cell phone and e-mail.

Nixle is a Community Information Service provider built exclusively to provide secure and reliable communications. Its authenticated service connects city or county agencies to residents in real-time, delivering information to residents of geographically targeted areas and neighborhoods.

Nixle is free (standard text message rates apply for cell phone subscribers who do not have text plans) and simple to use. There is no spam.

At this time, Nixle is unable to provide interagency only capabilities. Anyone signing up for this service will be able to select and recieve information from any authorized posting agency in Simpson County. For example, the Police Department would not be able at this time to have a subgroup just for their officers. Nixle is working to provide this capability, but it is unavailable at this time.
