Safety Of Children During Summer Vacation

Summer will be here before you know it and the children of the community will soon be enjoying their summer vacations. During this period of time, the police department is often called to address issues involving minors such as curfew, operation of motorized scooters, and the use of fireworks. In an effort to curtail these types of offenses, please review the following Village Ordinances. We will be strictly enforcing these ordinances to ensure the safety and well-being of the children within the community.

Sec. 7-48. Curfew For Minors:
It shall be unlawful for any person less than seventeen (17) years of age to be present at or upon any public assembly, building, place, street or highway at the following times: Sunday-Thursday Evening 11pm-6am & Friday-Saturday Evening 12:01am-6am.

Sec. 7-260. Closing Time For Parks:
All village parks shall close at sunset, except by special permit issued by the village board of trustees.

Sec. 6-101. Motorized Scooters Or Pedal cycles:
No person shall operate a motor driven scooter or pedal cycle upon any public street, sidewalk, parking lot, bike path, park or on any other public property.

Sec. 4-117. Sale of Fireworks:
It shall be unlawful to sell or offer for sale any fireworks in the Village.

Sec. 4-118. Discharge of Fireworks:
No person shall set off, fire or explode any fireworks whatsoever.
