Troy Police Department Investigators identified a suspect as a result of his use of one of the victim’s credit cards at a service station in Pontiac shortly after the thefts.

On April 21, plain clothes Police Officers from the Troy, Auburn Hills and Bloomfield Township Police Departments initiated surveillance on the 22 year old male resident of Pontiac. The suspect drove to Hamlin Elementary School at 270 West Hamlin Road, Rochester Hills. He entered an unlocked 2004 Dodge Durango in the parking lot and stole a purse from inside the vehicle. Plain clothes Officers arrested the suspect without incident and recovered the stolen purse. Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office transported the suspect to the Rochester Hills substation pending arraignment.

Police Investigators believe the suspect may be responsible for numerous recent larcenies of purses from automobile in Troy and surrounding communities. Troy Police Department investigations continue. CFS #2010-11282
