Advisory

Crystal Lake police is asking residents to be aware of a recent increase in car burglaries. See e-mail for further.

With warmer weather comes an increase in criminal activity. The Crystal Lake Police Department has been receiving an increase in burglary to motor vehicle reports. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles whenever they are away from them. Residents are also reminded that they should never leave valuables in the car or at least in plain sight. This makes the vehicle a target. Most of the items that criminals are targeting are Global Positioning Satellite (G.P.S.) units, I-pods (or MP3 players), and notebook computers. If a vehicle is locked and the valuable items are left in plain sight, the criminals have been breaking the vehicle windows to access the items.

The Crystal Lake Police Department is asking for your help by taking these steps to help reduce these incidents of crime.
