The Fort Mill Police Department recently won a new Dodge Charger that is now on patrol!

The Fort Mill Police Department has been awarded a fully equipped Dodge Charger by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety's Office of Highway Safety (OHS). The vehicle was purchased with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Federal funds and is subject to special conditions outlined in the 2009 Law Enforcement DUI Challenge Participation Statement.

Some of the conditions are as follows:
-The vehicle must maintain is current color scheme marked with the SC Law Enforcement Network (SCLEN) and H.E.A.T (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) markings.
-The vehicle must be used for the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers and traffic enforcement.
-A vehicle enforcement activity report must be submitted monthly for review to the OHS for the first three years of vehicle use.

Any agency who participated in SCLEN sponsored check points and traffic enforcement activities each month in 2009 was eligible to enter a drawing for a new Dodge Charger. There are currently 16 SCLEN districts and each district awarded a new car to eligible agencies. The Fort Mill Police Department was the lucky recipient of this new Charger for the 16th District. The Fort Mill Police Department plans to use this vehicle to continue to make the roadways in Fort Mill safer for all citizens and visitors.
