North Hollywood Detectives Investigate Homicide of Teenager in Sun Valley
Los Angeles: Street confrontation leads to death of teen in Sun Valley
On August 2, 2008, North Hollywood Division Patrol officers received a radio call of an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon Just Occurred” at 8250 Laurel Canyon Boulevard at the Taco Bell restaurant. Responding officers determined an assault had occurred and involved a sixteen-year-old juvenile victim, a resident of Sun Valley. The victim had been walking with an acquaintance in the area of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Roscoe Boulevard when he was confronted by a male Hispanic gunman. Following a brief conversation, the suspect produced a handgun and fired several rounds at the victim striking him multiple times in the upper torso. The victim fled to a nearby restaurant and collapsed from his injuries. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and subsequently transported the victim to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center for treatment of his gunshot wounds. The victim failed to respond to treatment and died as a result of the injuries sustained during the assault.
The victim has been identified as Edward Satterstron, a sixteen year old resident of Sun Valley. Satterstron was a student at John Francis Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley where he played on the football team.
Witnesses reported seeing a male Hispanic juvenile with slicked back hair wearing a black shirt and grey pants fleeing the scene on foot following the assault.
