Hillside Police Investigating Two Robberies

At 2:00 AM on March 22 three men reportedly robbed a 41 year old female victim at gun point.

The woman was walking to the BP Gas Station on Liberty Avenue and was approached by a man in the area of 1351 Liberty Avenue, one of who pointed a black handgun at her and said, “run your pockets,” apparently to communicate that he wanted all the items she had. The woman did not comply, but began striking the man with her fists. The subject began fighting back causing both to fall to the ground.

At this point a second man exited a nearby vehicle and began to punch the woman in the stomach and face. Both men then entered the vehicle and were driven north on Liberty Avenue by a third subject.

The subject with the gun is described as a black male, 5’7”, thin build, approximately 18 – 25 years old, with a dreadlock hairstyle. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans. The second subject is described as a black male, 5’9”, thin build, approximately 18 – 25 years old, with a short haircut. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and a long silver necklace with pendant.

The vehicle used was a dark colored (possibly black) older model Buick with silver trim.

The incident was not reported to police until 4:52 PM. Anyone with information about the incident or identity of the men is asked to call the Hillside police detective bureau at 973-926-5800.
