National Night Out To Bring Neighborhoods Together

In 1984, 400 communities in 23 states participated in National Night Out with 2.5 million Americans taking part. The seed had been planted. In subsequent years, participation has grown steadily. The 25th Annual National Night Out last August involved 37 million people in 15,000 communities worldwide.

On Tuesday, August 04, 2009, the Everett Police Department will be hosting the 26th annual National Night Out Against Crime celebration. Citizens, law enforcement agencies, community groups, and businesses across the United States will celebrate crime prevention awareness while sending a message that crime will not be tolerated in their communities. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood determination and form police-community partnerships while relaying the message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

This year National Night Out will be held in the southeast corner of the Top Foods parking lot, 1605 SE Everett Mall Way, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on August 04, 2009. The Everett Police Department partnered with several local businesses and community organizations to put on this event. They include Top Foods, Target, McClain Insurance, The Coffee Mill, Silver Lake Kiwanis, Cold Stone Creamery, Domino’s Pizza, Everett Port Gardner Rotary, Display and Costume, Rubatino Refuse Removal, Great Harvest Bread Company, The Everett Clinic, Kimberly Clark, KRKO Radio and many other community groups.
