WIDESPREAD FLOODING OCCURING IN LINCOLN PARK

The Pompton and Passaic Rivers are or will be at flood stage today. Currently there are several road closures in town including Riveredge, Ryerson, Branch and the Midwood section. There are reports of water covering many other streets that remain open. Please drive with care when in water and obey all road closed signs.

Evacuations are being performed by our emergency services. We have more than 60 volunteer members of our Fire Department, First Aid Squad, CERT Team and OEM working to help you. Our Police have been busy overnight with the strong winds and will be aiding the emergency operations today. We have contacted the county and they have provided us with the County Fire and OEM coordinators who will be in town now and throughout the day.

Please know that the water is continuing to rise and will do so for several hours after the rain stops. Pleaes take whatever precautions are necessary for the protection of your propety and the safety of you and your family. Additional information will be provided as necessary by email, on Channel 77 or by use of phone contacts through the reverse 911 system we use. Please pay attention to all warnings and take them seriously.

* FLOOD STAGE IS 19.0 FEET.
* MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MAJOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE RISING TO NEAR 21.5 FEET BY TUESDAY
