Chief David Linder of the Crystal Lake Police Department is pleased to announce the implementation of a new tool to help fight crime in the Crystal Lake community.

Crystal Lake Crime Stoppers is an organization that has been instrumental in helping to solve crimes in Crystal Lake for many years. Tips are received by Crystal Lake Crime Stoppers and the tipsters are kept anonymous. Those tips are then provided to CLPD for further investigation. Thanks to funding from Crystal Lake Crime Stoppers, the Crystal Lake Police Department has launched the Tip 411 Program.

The Tip 411 Program allows anyone with the ability to send text messages, to provide anonymous crime tips directly to the Crystal Lake Police Department. This service provides an anonymous means of connecting with the police department, so those providing the tips don’t have to worry about being identified.

This service additionally allows for the police department to interact directly with the anonymous person providing the information, especially in the event the police need more specific information relative to the information provided. This service allows for the tipster to have a dialogue with the Crystal Lake Police, yet remain anonymous.

Tips received through the Tip 411 Program are eligible for rewards from Crystal Lake Crime Stoppers.

If anyone has a tip they would like to text to the Crystal Lake Police Department, they can text the tip to “TIPCLPD”.
