Spears Rd. home broken into Monday. Day time B&E. Forced entry to door. Flat screen TV, laptop, etc. taken.


On Monday a Spears Rd. home was broken into and a large flat screen TV, laptop and other items were stolen. Burglar(s) broke into a door to the home. Break-in occurred during the day time hours. This is the third day time home break-in in the area duing the last month. There was a break-in on Donohue Rd. in which a handgun was stolen, a break-in on Barton Rd. and Monday, a break-in on Spears Rd. east of Barton Rd. In all three B&E's a door was broken in to. Any one observing any suspicious persons or vehicles in this area are asked to call 911 or 517/546-9111 immediately.


Homeowners are urged to take security measures. During day time hours, when away: Close drapes and shades, leave radio playing loudly inside home, install deadbolt locks, cover glass doors with decorative metal grating, affix security stickers to outside entrance (even if you don't have alarm, they can be purchased through the internet or at the Pinckney Hardware), post beware of dog signs at entrance (even if you don't have dog), cover garage windows so people can't tell if car is inside garage, call 911 IMMEDIATELY if you observe slow moving or suspicious cars or persons walking in area. Door-to-door solicitors have to register with police (if they don't have registration, call 911 or 517/546-9111), keep watch out in your neighborhood, record serial numbers of all electronics and guns and items of value, and most of all, be observant and report suspicious vehicles, persons and activity immediately by calling 911 or 517/546-9111.
