Modesto, CA – A Modesto man was carjacked after he confronted a group of suspected car burglars. His vehicle is still missing.
Early Thursday morning, at about 2:10 a.m. police were dispatched to 500 of Colfax to investigate a possible carjacking. When they arrived they spoke with a male victim, a Modesto man in his 20’s. He said he confronted a group of suspected burglars near Ada and Curry Streets who he believed ransacked his car and several others in the neighborhood.
The victim said he became involved in a fight with the first two suspects, and then at least three more appeared and assisted in the assault. The group of suspects was able to overcome the victim’s resistance and ran to his vehicle which was nearby. They fled in his vehicle leaving him behind. The victim suffered minor injuries and he declined medical treatment.
The suspects are described as Hispanic males, 18-20 years old, and 5’7”-5’10” tall.
The vehicle is a 2007 4-door Honda accord, in stock condition, bearing a California plate of 6DJY032. The vehicle has not been found.
