? Happy Diwali, West Windsor! ?
As Diwali celebrations begin, the West Windsor Police Department wishes everyone celebrating a blessed holiday filled with light, peace, happiness, and time with loved ones.
Please celebrate safely and respect your neighbors. Explosive and aerial consumer fireworks, including firecrackers, bottle rockets, and Roman candles, are illegal in New Jersey. Leave those displays to licensed professionals operating with the required permits.
“I have seen some displays in my neighborhood that make the fireworks in Disney look small and insignificant.”
Chief Robert Garofalo
? Those backyard booms are not harmless holiday fun. Illegal fireworks can cause serious injuries and fires. Please do not turn your neighborhood into a fireworks launch site.
? Legal does not mean safe! Sparklers can reach temperatures of up to 2,000°F and cause serious burns. They are not toys. Please do not put a burning sparkler in a young child’s hand. Glow sticks are a safer way for children to join the celebration.
???? Keep children at a safe distance from ALL fireworks, including legal ground-based devices. At permitted professional displays, remain behind the designated spectator boundaries.
? Loud explosions can terrify dogs and other pets and cause stress and discomfort for neighbors sensitive to loud noises, including some veterans and trauma survivors. Keep pets indoors in a quiet, secure space.
Let’s respect others and truly enjoy this blessed holiday. Celebrate with light, kindness, and consideration for the entire community. ??
