On September 19, 2026, at approximately 12:12 p.m., Fremont Police officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle traffic collision involving a vehicle that had collided with a building at Niles Boulevard and Cinematic Common. Officers and first responders arrived at the scene, located the unresponsive driver, and provided life-saving efforts. The driver was transported to a local trauma center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver, an 88-year-old adult male, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. No bystanders were injured.
The Fremont Police Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation into the collision. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation, but speed has not been ruled out. It is unclear whether the driver’s health or any pre-existing medical conditions may have contributed to the collision. However, alcohol impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time.
