MARION MAN GETS FELONY CHARGE AFTER INTIMIDATING CATAWBA RIVER FLOATERS
Deputy Chris Dvorak with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 44-year-old Joseph Dale Vetter of Marion with two counts of felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon. He was issued a secured bond of $50,000.
On Sunday, August 23, Deputy Dvorak responded to Mad Momma's Mudsling for a report of a subject waving a gun and yelling at people floating down the Catawba River.
Deputy Dvorak observed a man, identified as Vetter, sitting in a chair by the river with two firearms and an empty liquor bottle.
Deputy Dvorak confirmed that Vetter is a convicted felon and not allowed to own or be in possession of firearms.
He was taken into custody and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center for processing.
