On July 21, 2026, at approximately 8:15 a.m., officers from the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Dusan Street regarding a reported domestic violence incident.
The suspect, a 37-year-old male Simi Valley resident, fled the location prior to officers’ arrival. Based on the preliminary investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic battery and elder abuse. The suspect was also reportedly armed with a firearm and, before leaving the residence, allegedly stated that he would “shoot it out” with police if law enforcement was called.
At approximately 1:35 p.m., officers located the suspect driving his vehicle near the Simi Valley Town Center. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the suspect failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through Simi Valley and ultimately ended near the 2500 block of Dusan Street, where an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional details are not being released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Detectives from the Simi Valley Police Department will conduct the criminal investigation into the incident, with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office participating in the investigation. The Simi Valley Police Department’s Professional Standards Bureau will conduct a separate administrative investigation. Per department policy, all involved officers will be placed on administrative leave until further notice.
