We are working with the vendor for our new weather sirens, and they are starting the upgrade process.
This will be taking place over the next couple weeks or so, so some sirens will go offline temporarily while we simultaneously work on getting the outdoor sirens replaced as well as installing the needed programming/signaling equipment. EMA and Sheriff's Office employees are in communication with this vendor as work progresses.
This isn't something where everything can be in place all at once and we just cut over; it will take some time. We are working to minimize any disruption, but there will be some downtime for each siren.
Be sure you have multiple sources available for severe weather alerts. These could include local news/radio stations, phone apps, and weather radios.
As of right now, the latest weather forecast for today includes the possibility of some storms between 1 and 4 PM with the main threats of wind and lightning.
