Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to impact our area this afternoon and evening. Hazards may include damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, torrential rainfall, localized flash flooding, and isolated tornadoes.
Residents are encouraged to take steps to prepare before the storm:
• Secure outdoor furniture, umbrellas, garbage cans, and other loose items.
• Charge cell phones and portable battery packs.
• Have flashlights available in case of power outages.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and thunderstorms.
• Never drive through flooded roadways—Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
• If a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued, move indoors immediately and stay away from windows.
