Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau investigators are continuing their investigation into an Officer-Involved Shooting. The incident occurred in the 200 block of N. Grandview Avenue in the city of Covina, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 11:32 p.m.
Officers from the Covina Police Department responded to a shots fired call on the 200 block of Grandview Avenue. When officers arrived the suspect exited the location and began firing rounds at responding officers, at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect retreated into the location, several minutes later the suspect exited the location and was taken into custody without further incident. The handgun believed to be used by the suspect was recovered at the scene.
The suspect sustained a grazing gunshot wound to his upper body. Medical aid was immediately rendered to the suspect. Fire personnel transported the suspect to a local hospital where he was treated and released. He was then transported to the Covina Police Department where he was booked for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
No officers were injured during the incident.
