On May 11, 2026, at 2:03 p.m. Deputy Eric Powell conducted a traffic stop on a White 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan for traveling 97 mph in a 70-mph zone on Interstate 69. Upon stopping the vehicle near the State Road 64 exit Deputy Powell identified the driver as 30-year-old Stevenson Pierre of Tamarac, Florida. After a brief investigation Mr. Pierre was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Detention Center where he was charged with Reckless Driving.
Oakland City Officer Ty Schmittler assisted Deputy Powell in his investigation.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
