Weather Advisory: A blizzard warning is in effect until Monday evening, and Gov. Sherrill has declared a State of Emergency for our area effective 12pm tomorrow.
A severe winter storm will bring significant snow accumulations of 6 - 14", sustained winds of 35+mph, and reduced visibility beginning late Sunday morning and continuing into Monday.
All vehicles MUST BE removed from designated emergency snow routes. VEHICLES IN VIOLATION WILL BE FINED AND IMPOUNDED BEGINNING AS SOON AS SNOW BEGINS TO FALL.
DPW will have plows out during and immediately after the storm, but as the last storm demonstrated, vehicles that remain on roads significantly hinder their ability to clear roadways. We understand that finding parking is difficult, particularly during times snow events like this, but we kindly ask that residents do everything possible to move vehicles off the roadway.
Your cooperation is vital to our efforts to effectively respond to this storm and avoid some of the painful consequences we have experienced in the past. We encourage all residents to:
• Stay home – if you don’t have to travel, please don’t
• Remove all vehicles from posted Emergency Snow Routes, and remove vehicles from other roadways whenever possible - double up in your driveways, ask a neighbor to share a driveway or even park on your grass
• Do not park in illegal spaces too close to intersections – this prevents drivers from moving snow away from corners
