On November 15 at approximately 2:19 PM, El Cerrito Police Officers responded to multiple reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on San Pablo Avenue at Waldo Avenue. Officers arrived within minutes and found a 66-year-old woman lying unresponsive in the roadway. El Cerrito Fire Department personnel and AMR provided life-saving care at the scene, and the woman was airlifted to a local trauma center. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Despite the hospital’s best efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries and passed away on December 4, 2025. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy, and the case was presented to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for review.
Following that review, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office chargd the driver with one count of California Penal Code section 192(c)(2), Vehicular Manslaughter with Ordinary Negligence.
