Advisory

Storm update: Snow/ice tapers late tonight. Please see important info below

Storm update: Sleet and freezing rain is expected to taper off late tonight. All streets are currently open and navigable, and crews will continue plowing throughout the evening and overnight hours to further clear roads and open intersections.

Crews also continue working to clear walkways, ramps and steps at at the train station and other City facilities, and snow and ice will be pushed to the curb wherever possible. Alternate side of the street parking rules will remain in effect to help facilitate these efforts.

Extreme cold temperatures will remain in the area throughout the week. Please ensure that you dress warmly when going outside.

Salting operations will continue after the storm and in the days ahead. Please note that salt is mostly ineffective in extreme temperatures and will be applied judiciously as necessary.

To help support these efforts, the scheduled recycling pickup for Monday, January 26th is CANCELED. Instead, bottles and cans will be collected in Districts 1, 2 , 3 , 9, & 10 on Tuesday, January 27th and Districts 4 , 5 , 6 , 7, & 8 will be collected on Wednesday, January 28th.

City Hall and other City offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, but vehicles that were towed during the storm can be picked up between 12pm -5pm. Owners can respond to the Linden Police Traffic Bureau on the 1st floor of City Hall to pickup a release form.

Residents are reminded to please:
• Do not block or shovel snow into the street
• Clear sidewalks within 6 hours after snowfall stops, or by noon the next day if snow stops overnight
• Do not allow children to play or build snow forts near the curbline
• Do not try to save parking space with personal items or garbage cans.

Residents are also encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts and follow the City of Linden, Linden Police Department, and other official government sources on social media to receive updates. For information about how to sign up, please visit https://linden-nj.gov/nixlesignup

Thank you again for your continued patience and support throughout this event. Your cooperation is an essential part of our efforts to keep roadways safe and ensure parking spaces are clear after the storm.
