Sheriff's Cold Case Homicide Detectives Arrest Suspect in 2001 Murder of Adelanto Woman

DATE: January 15, 2026

INCIDENT: Cold Case Murder – Suspect Arrested

LOCATION: Mariposa Road and Ranchero Road, Hesperia

SUSPECT: Raymond Silva Gonzales, 51-years-old, Resident of Hesperia

VICTIM: Suzanne Sites-Fenton, 32-years-old (at the time of her death), Resident of Adelanto

SUMMARY:
On Saturday, April 14, 2001, Suzanne Sites-Fenton was reported missing by her husband after she did not return home from a night shift at Mervyn’s retail store, in Victorville. During the initial investigation, detectives learned Suzanne took a break and walked into the Mervyn’s parking lot and never returned to work or home.

The following day, on Friday, April 15, 2001, Suzanne’s vehicle was located abandoned, and evidence of a physical altercation was found inside, but Suzanne was not located.

On Monday, April 16, 2001, Suzanne’s body was found in a desolate area near Mariposa Road and Ranchero Street, in Hesperia. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigation Division – Homicide Detail assumed the investigation. The investigation determined Suzanne was shot and detectives learned she was kidnapped, and sexually assaulted, prior to her death.  A suspect was not identified, and the case went cold.

In 2025, the Cold Case Homicide Team continued the investigation and identified the suspect as Raymond Silva Gonzales. Homicide detectives obtained a warrant for Gonzales’ arrest and on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with the help of the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SWAT), he was arrested and later booked at the High Desert Detention Center for murder. He remains in custody without bail.
