Evansville man arrested for OWI.

On January 6, 2026, at 2:53 a.m. Deputy Michael Bates conducted a traffic stop on US 41 near Oak Street in Fort Branch on a Gold 2002 Mercury Sable that had been speeding while southbound.  Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Bates detected the odor of burnt Marijuana and began a roadside OWI investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation Deputy Bates had probable cause to believe that the driver 28-year-old Camren Cooper of Evansville operated his vehicle while intoxicated.  Deputy Bates placed Mr. Cooper into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Detention Center where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Possession of Marijuana.

Sgt John Fischer and Owensville Officer Steven Parker assisted Deputy Bates in his investigation.
