Press Release - Culver City Police Swiftly Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect
Culver City Police Department
PRESS RELEASE
Jason Sims, Chief of Police
On January 3, 2026, at around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard regarding a reported robbery near the entrance of a retail store. A male suspect wearing all-black clothing approached the victim and said, “Give me everything you got,” and displayed what appeared to be a handgun. The victim was not injured and complied by handing over approximately $100 in cash. The suspect then left the area, walking briskly towards the nearby Bus Transfer Station.
Culver City Police immediately responded, reviewed surveillance footage, and located images of the suspect. It was determined that the suspect had boarded a bus nearby that had left the area.
Officers quickly contacted the bus operators and learned the bus was traveling eastbound. Additionally, responding officers located the bus in the Los Angeles area and spotted the suspect fleeing to a nearby commercial complex.
With the assistance of security personnel at the location, officers located and safely detained the suspect. A search of the surrounding area and buildings found clothing believed to have been discarded by the suspect.
The suspect, a male juvenile, was arrested for robbery and transported to a juvenile detention facility. He was later booked on robbery charges.
We are grateful for the cooperation of all involved, from our community members to the bus operators and security personnel whose assistance helped to bring this incident to a safe resolution. The Culver City Police Department remains committed to keeping our community safe through strong partnerships and teamwork. We encourage our community members to always prioritize their safety. Property can be replaced, but lives cannot.
