Haircut Leads to Stabbing and Arrest 
Date/Time: October 28, 2025, at approximately 11:20 PM
Location: 1300 block of Katherine Road South, Simi Valley
SVPD dispatch received a report of a female who had been stabbed in the neck with a pair of scissors. Officers quickly arrived on scene and located the victim suffering from a serious neck wound. Officers rendered medical aid and identified the suspect as the victim’s sister, Randy Mellin, a resident of Acton, California.
Further investigation revealed that the victim had been giving Mellin a haircut inside the residence when, without provocation, Mellin broke a wine glass and stabbed the victim in the neck with the broken glass.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Mellin was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Jail for Attempted Murder.
