At approximately 10:25 P.M., SVPD Officers responded to a vandalism radio call on Fallon Circle, where a witness reported a male suspect smashing the window of a parked vehicle. A description of the subject was provided to responding officers, but a search of the area did not result in locating the suspect.
A short time later, officers were dispatched to a traffic collision in the 1900 block of Morley St. Following the crash, the driver fled the scene on foot. Officers detained a juvenile male at Abraham and Malcolm Streets who matched the description provided in the earlier vandalism call.
The vehicle involved in the collision, a Kia Soul with a punched ignition, was determined to be an unreported recently stolen vehicle. Further investigation revealed the juvenile was also in possession of property taken from a separate theft from vehicle on Valjean Ave.
The 17-year-old suspect was cited and released to his mother for the following charges:
- 602 WIC / 10851 VC – Vehicle theft
- 484 PC – Petty theft
- 594 PC – Vandalism
