SUBJECT: Redwood City Police Arrest Suspect in Red Morton Park Restroom Incident
LOCATION: 1120 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City
DATE/TIME: August 24, 2025, 2:46 P.M.
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 2:46 p.m., Redwood City Police officers were dispatched to Red Morton Park after receiving reports of a man who entered the women’s restroom and attempted to record an occupied stall with a cell phone.
The victim, a 32-year-old Vacaville resident, screamed for help, and her husband along with other family members confronted the suspect. The suspect fled the scene in a blue Honda Fit prior to officers’ arrival.
Through investigative follow-up, the suspect was identified as Wilson Velasquez Martinez, 32, of Redwood City. Based on the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Velasquez Martinez in the amount of $25,000 for violation of Penal Code 647(j)(3) – Invasion of Privacy (illegal recording in a restroom).
On August 27, 2025, officers located and arrested Martinez without incident. A search warrant was also executed at his residence as part of the ongoing investigation. Martinez was ultimately booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility.
