Charges Filed Against Rialto Man Responsible for Collision that Killed One Person and Sent Another to the Hospital

DATE: August 23, 2025

INCIDENT: Vehicular Manslaughter with Gross Negligence

LOCATION: Seventh Avenue/Lime Street, Hesperia

SUSPECT(S): Miguel Villarreal, 23-year-old, residence of Rialto 

VICTIM: Female Adult
              Male Juvenile


SUMMARY: On November 21, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., deputies with the Hesperia Police Department responded to a single vehicle traffic collision in the area of Seventh Avenue and Lime Street in the city of Hesperia. 

Upon deputies arriving, it was discovered the vehicle was occupied by three individuals. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for injuries, the juvenile passenger was airlifted to a trauma center for major injures and the female passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. 

The Hesperia Major Accident Investigations Team (M.A.I.T) responded to the scene of the collision and conducted an investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined the driver, identified as Miguel Villarreal of Rialto, was operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly and caused the collision.

The report was sent to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review. On August 21, 2025, an arrest warrant was issued for Villarreal. On August 23,2025, deputies with the Hesperia Major Accident Investigation Team took Villarreal into custody at his residence. Villarreal was arrested and booked into the West Valley Desert Detention Center for PC192 (c) (1)- Vehicular Manslaughter with Gross Negligence, with a $260,000 bail.
