#LASD Carson Station's Crack Down on Illegal Street Racing #Carson
Carson, CA — Illegal street racing and reckless vehicle exhibitions are not only unlawful, but they are also deadly. These disruptive activities endanger everyone who shares our roads, and the City of Carson, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are intensifying enforcement to stop them.
Over the past several months, LASD Carson Station has worked closely with city, state and local partners to target street racing, vehicle takeovers, and illegal vehicle modifications.
On Sunday, August 17th, a Carson Street Racing Enforcement Operation was conducted at Avalon Boulevard and Gardena Avenue to send a clear message: the consequences of engaging in illegal street takeovers are serious and will be strictly enforced:
- (64) Arrests were made for street takeover spectating, including,
- (1) Driver was arrested for reckless driving.
- (1) Felony warrant arrest for narcotics sales.
- (1) DUI Arrest.
- (1) Nitrous Oxide Arrest.
- (25) Vehicles were towed.
- (2) Vehicles were impounded for 30 days.
- (8) Traffic Citations were issued.
“Street takeovers are not entertainment—they are dangerous, criminal behavior,” said Carson Station Captain Alise Norman. “Our roads belong to the community, and we will hold individuals accountable for their actions. That includes not only the drivers, but also the spectators who enable and encourage these illegal activities that threaten the safety of our residents.”
The public is encouraged to report any street racing or takeover activity by calling your local sheriff's station or dialing 911 in an emergency.
