On August 14, 2025, at 3:50 p.m. Deputy Eric Powell conducted a traffic stop on a Grey 2010 Honda Accord for speeding on US 41 near State Road 68.  Upon monitoring the vehicle Deputy Powell observed multiple moving violations that lead him to believe the vehicle was attempting to evade him. Ultimately Deputy Powell conducted a traffic stop on County Road 1200 South US 41. During the roadside investigation Deputy Powell identified the driver as 25-year-old Tyler Luff of Haubstadt.   Once the inquiry was completed Deputy Powell placed Mr. Luff into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Detention Center.  Upon arriving at the Detention Center Mr. Luff was charged with Operating a Vehicle Without Ever Receiving a License and Reckless Driving.  Mr. Luff was also issued citations for Failure to Signal a Turn, Operating a Vehicle Without Financial Responsibility, and Unsafe Lane Movement. 
 
Deputies Wes Baumgart and Michael Owens assisted Deputy Powell in his investigation.  Haubstadt Town Marshal Jason Wright also assisted in this investigation. 
 
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
