The Simi Valley Police Department responded to 2751 Tapo Canyon Rd. on 8/1/25 around 11pm for an assault investigation.
Upon arrival, the victim of the assault was no longer on scene. On 8/2 at approximately 1245am, the SVPD was called by the victim and his mother regarding the assault. We responded to their residence and a criminal investigation was launched.
We are aware that there are several videos of the incident circulating on line and we are attempting to gather those as part of our investigation. We are also aware of several racial slurs being used during this incident and that will be investigated as well as part of this investigation.
We can confirm that one of the juveniles on scene is related to a member of Simi Valley Police Department. That employee was not at the scene nor will he be involved in the investigation. That relationship has no bearing on this investigation. A thorough an unbiased investigation will be conducted. The Detective Bureau has been assigned the case and it is actively being investigated.
Again this case is in the beginning stages of its investigation as evidence is still being gathered and witnesses are still needing to be interviewed. We can provide further details as they become available.
