On Tuesday afternoon, June 15, 2025, the Sheboygan Police Department responded to a tragic incident in which a 13-year-old resident of Sheboygan lost his life while swimming in a non-designated area of the quarry. According to our initial investigation, the juvenile was with a group of acquaintances when the accident occurred.
The Sheboygan Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragedy. Based on the consistent accounts provided by witnesses and those present, there is no indication at this time that foul play was involved. At this time all available information supports that this was a tragic and heartbreaking accident.
In the aftermath of this incident, false and misleading information has circulated on social media. Unfortunately, this misinformation has contributed to heightened emotions and the exchange of threats among community members online. Our department has taken these matters seriously, and we have already investigated one such threat that led to an arrest.
We urge everyone to use caution and responsibility when sharing information online. Please verify facts before reposting and remember that speculation and rumors only cause further harm to those already grieving.

appreciation to the agencies that responded quickly to the scene and to the many members of our community who have shown support and compassion during this difficult time.
We want to remind the public that swimming at the Sheboygan Quarry is only permitted in designated areas during regular business hours. Both Sheboygan Jaycees Quarryview Park and the Sheboygan Quarry Beach Adventure Park and Water Sports have since reopened.
