UPDATE: Fatal Hit and Run Crash Suspect Arrested

Traffic Investigators from the West Hollywood Sheriff's station are investigating the circumstances of a fatal hit and run traffic collision involving a white older model BMW sedan and a bicyclist.  The incident took place at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Gardner Street in the city of West Hollywood.  

Preliminary information indicates the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Fountain Avenue when the white sedan traveling westbound on Fountain Avenue crashed with the bicyclist. The white sedan fled the scene westbound on Fountain Avenue.  The bicyclist was transported to Cedars Sinai Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  The white BMW sedan is expected to have a shattered windshield on the passenger side of the vehicle. 

Updated Information:  
Investigators from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s station with the assistance of witnesses and tips from the community were able to identify the vehicle and the driver involved in the tragic hit and run crash that killed Blake Adam Ackerman. The suspect was identified as Douglas Morton Adams.  

The suspect was arrested on 07/15/2025 for Hit and Run causing Death, 20001(a) CVC. 

Due to the help from the community of West Hollywood and all the other good Samaritans that stayed to help with this accident we were able to identify the driver. This incident highlights the importance of the community working together.  

There are many other factors regarding this collision that are still under investigation.
