Lost Hills deputies responded to the location regarding a rescue call of a tree that had fallen on people at the location. Upon arrival they saw camp staff rendering aid to several people. Deputies immediately began rendering aid until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel who took over life-saving measures.
It was determined there were five people who were injured during the incident:
Male Juvenile, 8 years old, was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.
Female Juvenile, 11 years old, was airlifted to a local hospital and sustained a broken leg.
Male Juvenile, 5 years old, sustained cuts and a laceration to his head.
Male Adult, 22 years old, sustained abrasions to his head and bruising to his arm.
Male Adult, 73 years old, sustained a concussion.
It was later determined they were all attending a summer camp and were gathering at the end of the day under a tree that provided shade. They heard cracks and suddenly a very large branch fell on top of them. It is being estimated that it was 25-30 foot branch from an oak tree.
