INCIDENT: Failure to Yeild, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Vehicle Theft
LOCATION: La Mesa Road / Aqueduct Road, Phelan
SUSPECT(S): Jason Mitchell, 37 years of age, resident of Barstow
SUMMARY: On Monday, July 7, 2025, at 5:46 p.m., Sheriff’s Aviation (40K) was flying in the area of La Mesa Road and Aqueduct Road, in the town of Phelan, when they received a LoJack alert on a vehicle traveling in the area.
Deputies observed the vehicle driving east on Aqueduct Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and continued to drive. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Jason Mitchell, led deputies on a pursuit before getting the vehicle stuck in a ditch in the city of Victorville. Mitchell then fled the vehicle on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies.
The vehicle was reported stolen out of Phelan. Mitchell was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
