Emergency Personnel Respond to Reported Chlorine Leak at Baxter Facility in McDowell County
Marion, NC – McDowell County emergency personnel are currently on the scene at the Baxter facility located at 65 Pitts Station Rd. following a report of a small chlorine leak from a tank located on the premises.
The incident is fully contained within the Baxter complex, and there is no threat to the surrounding community. One nearby family has been briefed as a precaution by emergency responders. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
Emergency crews on site include the Ashford North Cove Fire Department, McDowell EMS, McDowell Rescue, McDowell County Emergency Management, North Carolina Emergency Management, and the NC Regional Hazmat Team RRT6 based in Asheville.
