On June 14, 2025, at approximately 8:00 pm, multiple inmates housed at the Lerdo Pre-Trial Detentions Facility were assaulted by a rival gang. Inmates associated with a Northern Hispanic prison gang gained entry into an adjoining housing unit and began assaulting other the inmates. During the incident, one of the inmates who initiated the assault was stabbed with a jail made weapon commonly referred to as a "shank." Detentions Deputies responded to the housing unit and gained control of the incident with minimal force. All inmates involved in the incident were medically evaluated and treated for their injuries. The inmate who was stabbed was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Since the incident, all involved inmates have been medically cleared and rehoused. No detentions personnel were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and charges will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office once the investigation has been completed.
